First session

Your first Mandarin loop.

A guided first-session lesson for English speakers who do not know Chinese yet: listen, read pinyin, understand one Hanzi sentence, shadow one story line, then try a gentle quiz.

The line is so long I am questioning life.

Do this once, in order

This is not a grand curriculum. It is the first useful loop: listen, read, shadow, recall. If you skip straight to browsing, congratulations, you have invented a less efficient dictionary.

01

Listenfirst session

Hear one useful phrase

Let your ear meet Mandarin before your eyes start overthinking Hanzi.

Tap play twice. First listen for rhythm. Then read the pinyin and English.

Checkpoint: I listened before reading.

The line is so long I am questioning life.

Readfirst session

Read 的 inside a sentence

See a common character doing a real job, not floating alone like a museum label.

Read the pinyin out loud, then look at the English meaning. Do not memorize the character shape yet.

Checkpoint: I read the whole sentence.

我的 is a common expression.

03

Shadowfirst session

Repeat one tiny story line

Practice Chinese as a sentence with rhythm, not as isolated vocabulary crumbs.

Play the line, pause, then repeat it slowly. Ugly first attempts are allowed. Silent reading is not speaking.

Checkpoint: I repeated the line aloud.

The coffee shop is busy.

Recallfirst session

Try the warm-up quiz

Check whether the phrase survived without staring at the answer.

Open the starter quiz. Use help if needed. Show answer teaches; it just does not count as correct.

Checkpoint: I am ready for the quiz.

The line is so long I am questioning life. But I still came.

Wrong, almost, and shown answers go into Practice. That is the point: the site should remember what you need to fix, not just smile politely while you forget everything.

What counts

Completion is local and honest.

Marking all four steps records today as a practice day in this browser. It does not pretend you are fluent. It only proves you showed up and did the first loop.
